Eckhart Tolle sits in a chair speaking wise words of wisdom to his audience

Eckhart Tolle is today one of the leading spiritual teachers in the world. Born in Germany, he studied at both London and Cambridge Universities and now resides in Vancouver Canada. During his 29th year, on the verge of suicide, he experienced a profound inner transformation which completely turned his life around. For the next couple of years, he describes himself as “wandering in a state of bliss.”Eckhart Tolle and Dalai Lama walk hand in hand down a busy street

He then began his teachings, inspiring followers in classrooms and in their homes before publishing his first book ‘THE POWER OF NOW’ which has been translated into 33 different languages and sold millions of copies around the world.

This was then followed up with his second book ‘A NEW EARTH-Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose’ which sold even more copies. The book was also introduced on Oprah via a 10 program webinar and was watched by over 40 million viewers.

His simple yet profound teachings have enabled countless people (myself included) to find not only a new way to live but true peace and real purpose in their lives, regardless of their previous circumstances.

Eckhart Tolles Mindset

  • Problems are an illusion. Every situation needs to be either dealt with… or accepted! Why would you turn it into a problem?
  • Don’t let the mad world tell you that success is anything other than a successful present moment.
  • Boredom, anger, sadness, or fear are not yours, not personal. They are a condition of the human mind. They come and go. Nothing that comes and goes is you.
  • Anything that you resent and strongly react to in another, is also in you.
  • When you complain you make yourself a victim.
  • The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation, but your thoughts about it.
  • Accept…then Act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it not against it.
  • The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation, but your thoughts about it.
  • Worry pretends to be necessary but serves no useful purpose.
  • Is suffering really necessary? Yes and No. If you had not suffered as you have, there would be no depth to you, no humility, no compassion.

Eckhart Tolle Quote; The Moment That Judgement Stops Through Acceptance, of What Is, You Are Free Of The Mind.

Eckhart’s Teachings For A Successful Life Experience

  • Use obstacles and so-called ‘problems’ as opportunities.
  • Become aware of and eliminate unwanted self-talk.
  • Challenges are inherent and essential in life. Deal with them and evolve into who you were truly meant to be.
  • It is your state of consciousness now that will determine whatever is manifested.
  • Remember that you are never failing you are only ever learning.
  • Your true purpose in life is always whatever you are doing right now.
  • Your past has no power over the present moment.
  • Learn to embrace change, for everything changes.
  • Surrender to what is, and all your ‘problems’ will be solved.
  • Remember to take the small steps that lead to greatness.

Eckhart Tolle and his books have changed my life, I say this without the slightest hesitation. For me, his teachings are not only profoundly simple but in my experience, highly original. His words resonated with me immediately and I devoured all his books, initially with a limited understanding/comprehension.

I was absolutely astounded by this simple, humble man/ being who has such valuable knowledge for us all. As I read and re-read all of his books, my understanding of the ability to escape my detrimental thinking habits and return to NOW, have certainly been a blessing. The awareness and relief of knowing about the pain body have transformed my life immensely, along with my loved ones, and is affecting the lives of all humanity.

The small everyday errors that we make and consider to be normality can be dissolved, and new, more positive ways of looking at our world can be practised, solutions are contained in every sentence and paragraph of his books. I continue to read and listen to his wisdom on a daily basis, and I am and will be forever grateful to this small, humble almost geek-like being, for his transformational wisdom for the benefit of me, you, and all of mankind.

Eckhart Reminds us,

If you are not living this moment, you are not really living

Sadhgurus Mindset

  • We are all trapped in memories of our past, and the imagination of our future.
  • What we think is struggle is simply life, our journey!
  • The events around you may not be determined by you, but how your experience of life is on this planet, is 100% determined by you.
  • No work is stressful, it is your inability to manage your body, mind and emotions that make it stressful.
  • Spirituality is not about becoming special, it is about becoming one with everything.
  • A Guru is not someone who holds the torch, he is the torch.
  • Life is not outside of you, You are Life.
  • Human experience is 100% self-created.
  • As there is technology to create external well-being, there is a whole dimension of science and technology to create inner well-being.

Sadhgurus Teachings For A Successful Life Experience

  • Make time always to enhance your perception and intelligence.
  • Know that nothing you experience in this life happens outside of you, everything is experienced from within.
  • Be conscious of and remind yourself often of your mortality.Sadhguru Standing On His Motorbike, Riding Through A Creek
  • Take time each day for some fun, to relax. Stop taking what you do so seriously. Let go of your self-importance. Remember, no matter who you are, if you were to die today, the world will carry on completely fine without you.
  • Don’t stay trapped in fear. Move out of your memory of the past and imaginings of your future. You cannot overcome that which does not exist.
  • Don’t allow yourself to become attached or identified with anything.
  • Don’t try to fix anything in the world besides yourself.
  • Pay attention to yourself. The clothes you wear, your car, your house, your wife, none of these things determine the quality of your life. This moment, how joyful are you feeling within yourself?
  • Do not set incentives for sickness.
  • Have a sense of humour, life is not so serious.

Sadhguru Quote: When You Don't Know What To Choose, Just Show Total Involvement In Everything That You Have. Then Life Will Choose, And It Is Never Wrong

Sadhguru is a man who came into my life only recently. Amazed with all the research that I have done that we have not crossed paths before. However having done so has been truly amazing. Whether he is referred to as a Yogi, Mystic, or Guru, this Indian man has great gifts of wisdom for everyone. I have been left with no doubt that he is one of the greatest teachers in the world today.

I find myself continually shaking my head in disbelief at his wise words and his ability to convey his simplistic message as only Sadhguru can. His words often bring a smile to my face and more often than not a laugh, his wisdom can also bring tears of gratitude to my eyes. I have come to love and admire this man and my gratitude for my growth and learned wisdom in such a short time cannot be described here with words.

Sadhguru reminds us that…

I am not suffering life. I am suffering my memory and imagination. My memories of the past and my imagination of the future. Life has nothing to do with my suffering. Life is always just happening the way it is meant to happen.

Dr Wayne Dyer although not physically with us now leaves the legacy that he so often spoke of. His work will continue to influence thousands, if not millions of people for many years to come. His spirit lives on in his many lessons for a successful, happy and abundant life.

Wayne reminds us that ‘ There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way!

Wayne Dyers Mindset

  • Begin to see yourself as a soul with a body, rather than a body with a soul.
  • When you trust in yourself, you are trusting in the wisdom that created you.
  • There’s no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love, there is only scarcity of resolve to make it happen.
  • When you are at peace with yourself and love yourself, it is virtually impossible to do things to yourself that are self-destructive.
  • Be miserable or motivate yourself, whatever has to be done is your choice.
  • When you change the way you look at things the things you look at change.
  • You cannot always control what goes on outside, but you can always control what goes on inside.
  • Judgement prevents us from seeing the good that lies beneath appearances.
  • With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift.

Wayne has been a part of my life for many years now and although he has passed will always remain in my life. His first book was a starting point for my never-ending seeking of truth. He first introduced and had me become aware of the never-ending voice or chatterbox in my head, with it’s never ending ego at work along with my negative thinking patterns, so many years ago.

His book”Your Erroneous Zones” sparked firstly an awareness that I was not alone that turned into an insatiable hunger for a better life. I have remained a seeker and will continue to search until my very last moments because of this great man.

He has enabled me to acknowledge and accept a simple fact that, If I change the way I look at things, the things I look at change.

Deepak is the author of one of my all-time favourite books ” The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.” A book of transformational qualities which is simple yet densely packed with wisdom. I still remember. as I closed the book having read the last page looking to the sky with newfound inspiration, so uplifting that I was left with Newfound Hope, Belief, Knowing and Peace.

Although Deepak doesn’t play a large part in my life right now, I am once again forever grateful for the wisdom contained in ” The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success”  and in writing this feel inspired to reread this wonderful book.

Deepak describes his mission in life as,

  1. Is it Tolle a Buddhist right? I think I saw him even at one of the Carl Sagan episode where he personally interviews him. It was awesome seeing him talking about the point of the Buddhism which I think meditating and bringing the attention to the present moment it’s so powerful that I am sure that this why you step out of your comfort zone. When we shut down our inner doubts we are capable of giving more and feeling compassion also so its a win-win situation.

    1. Hello Erick

Thanks very much for your thoughts. Although Tolle does quote and use buddhism in his teachings he is said to be teaching from the essence of all the spiritual paths for the divinity in all beings. However your insights into the benefits of meditation are really what is important here and you are obviously reaping the benefits.

It’s amazing what transpires in our lives when we start and continue to meditate.I wish you wellness peace and happiness Erick.

      Warmest regards

  2. Hello, I have been on a spiritual journey of my own for most of my life. The one thing I have learned along this journey is that first I have to love God. Then I have to love myself. Without these two factors nothing I do will ever be accomplished. Once we learn this we are able to love those around us with no judgments or expectations. Most times people expect us to be something other than who we are. Once we accept that we are who we were created to be and we are created the perfect person we are. We can not change anyone but ourselves. We also can not love someone else without loving ourselves first. Thank You for sharing this information God Bless.

    1. Hello Sherry

So lovely to hear from you and your feelings on your own personal experience during your journey. Judgement and expectations of others is a huge trap that we all fall into at times and to quote Wayne Dyer here who said that ” Judgement prevents us from seeing the good that lies beneath appearances.”

Our expectations of others is also summed up by Sadhguru who reminds us that ” Nobody will ever be 100% the way we want them to be.” Eckhart Tolle advises that ” Accept what is and all your so called problems will be solved.”

You have great insights already Sherry and I wish well-being, peace and happiness during the continuance of your journey.

      With my warmest regards

  3. The idea that humans create their own suffering is so hard to hear, but it makes perfect sense. I’ve had my own rock bottom recently and the most spiritual moment of my life was right after I came out of it and realized that it was all just a frame of mind. Since then I have trouble going in and out and I keep looking for more answers on how to stay “in the bubble” so to speak. I’ve been trying daily affirmations and meditation, but they don’t always work for me. These sort of books give me hope and I have no idea why I haven’t heard of them until now.

    1. Hello Jaime,

So nice to hear from you. Hitting rock bottom is not a nice place to be, however it is often the place where a rebirth of your spiritual journey. Any and every action you take including your meditation and affirmations is a step in the right direction.

It is natural to expect instant growth and change, but unfortunately  nothing wortwhile ever works that way. Be grateful for your awareness of your willingness to change, be patient and go easy on yourself. It will be well worth the effort.

      Love and blessings Jaime

  4. It is my first time I heard about Eckhart Tolle. I have read some books by other inspiring authors like M. Scott Peck and Robin Sharma. It looks like Eckhart has accomplished a lot of work in this area too. I think I should find some books by him and have a read later. Thanks for this useful information!

    1. Hello and Welcome Ravihansa,

Great to hear from you. I too have read “The Road Less Travelled ” by Scott Peck and also one of Robert Sharmas books called “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. ” They are both great reads, enjoyed them both immensely.

I encourage you to follow through and purchase and read some of the books mentioned hear in this post. They will  all contribute to a new mind set and indeed a new life.

      Best of wishes my friend,

Here’s to the ever evolving new you.

      Warmest regards

  5. Great stuff you’ve got on your site! You really did a lot of research and it shows. It also shows your passion for the topic. The only thing I had an issue with is where you wrote around the picture with Oprah. The word “silence” goes right into your picture. The rest of the paragraph worked and looked good. But I struggled with that first word. I’m also on my smartphone, and I don’t know how it looks on the computer. It might look right there.
But great work! The theme is perfect for it!

    1. Hello there,

Thanks so much not only your comment but also the time given to offer me some feedback on the article. You have left me inspired at a time where I really need it. I really do have a passion for turning peoples lives around and making peoples lives full of purpose and passion.I truly feel that we all need to take a seeking experience and don’t pull up at belief but continue always to search for what is the truth for each individual.

      Sincerest blessings to you always

  6. “Accept…then Act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it not against it.” This is a perfect quote for my current situation. It resonates with me so well.

I find it interesting that a lot of these teacher’s philosophies are similar to bible verses in the book of Proverbs, of which we call one of the wisdom books. What got you into seeking deep spirituality like this Paul and do you subscribe to a religion? Only asking out of curiosity, if you don’t feel comfortable talking about it, it’s fine. I understand.

    1. Hello, Lovely to know that you enjoyed this post and I think all the great teachers have teachings that crossover and that’s the beauty of them because we all need constant reminders. I’m not aligned with any religion, I consider myself as a seeker of the truth and that has come about due to sadness and discontent. I will never stop striving for a better life for me and all of us
      Thank you so much.. Paul

  7. Thank you for introducing me to so many gurus (if you will).  There are several here that I haven’t heard of.

Some of their sayings/teachings speak to me.  Hindsight would have me slapping my forehead and saying “duh!” but reading some of these for the first time has me simply nodding my head in wonder as I think, why haven’t I looked at it in this way.

    Thanks again,

    1. hey Scott,

Great to hear from you and hindsight is a great teacher as long as we put the new perception in to practice. Appreciate your honesty Scott and it’s never to late. Our perceptions are always changing as we get older and sometimes wiser. Keep nodding that head mate.

    1. Hello Tyranique,

Thanks for your comment and so pleased the acceptance quote touched you, it is a great one to live by. I think all the great teachers share the same basic set of beliefs for peace and joy. My path wasn’t a conscious decision it has come about by finding myself cornered with my back against the wall by life, with nowhere to run nowhere to hide. Found some books which bought me some belief that life could get better and so the story goes 30 odd years later.

I am aligned with no particular religion Tyranique, I try to simply be a constant seeker of the truth for which there is no end. Lovely to hear from you please write back to me, your interest intrigues me

      Blessings Tyranique

  9. You have given us such a great view of four amazing teachers — Eckhart Tolle, Sadhgurus, Dr. Wayne Dyer, and Deepak Chopra.  I hope you don’t mind — I’ve made a copy of parts of your post so I can have them to read out loud now and then.  Any one of the four would have been a good subject for a post, all by itself.  You have given us a great deal in this post.

I have several of Chopra’s books and really find them illuminating.  I also have a series of tapes he did…can’t remember the name of them because a friend sent them…but they carried excellent information.  I have run across Dr. Dyer in my travels, and have heard of Eckhart Tolle, but not Sadhgurus.

If we find the right teacher, we can learn so much.  You have been fortunate to find not one, but four who have helped change and illuminate your life.  Thank you for sharing what you have learned with us.

    1. Hello Fran, So nice to hear from you and your comment is wonderful. You are so right when you talk aboutt the teachers and their teachings, I love all these guys and have evolved through all of them but I stll always go back for thier truths and how to put things into perspective first and then into practice.

So happy to have you enjoy, Paul

      1. hello Fran, Thanks so much for your comment, I have been blessed to have all these men to rely on for an absolute wealth of wisdom. Sadghuru is the newest member and I love to listen to his work. Do yourself a favour and have a listen to his stuff, he is truly an amazing guy
