Hello there and a very warm welcome to one and all,
Today it gives me great pleasure to offer to you Eckhart Tolle-A New Earth-A Review. A book that has like’The Power Of Now’ become a constant companion of mine. Saying that however it’s recently been hijacked by my beautiful daughter and because of it’s potential to change her life I am more than happy for her to have it.
Once again it is a book that I have read many times over and it will continue to influence me till the day I breathe no more. The book is Eckhart’s follow up to his phenomenal teachings in the New York Times bestseller list ‘The Power Of Now.’
“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.”
The book has gone on to outsell ‘The Power of Now’ with a staggering 5 million copies sold in the US alone. It is an elite member of Oprah Winfrey’s book club, to which she was so impressed that she compiled a series of webinars alongside Eckhart that by the 3rd week had over 11 million viewers logging in.
The book offers so many ‘Aha’ moments that we can all relate too. He offers tools including meditation practices of many variations, breathing techniques involving stillness and silence. One simple practice is to simply hold a flower and see it for what it truly is… a miracle of beauty bestowing the wonderment of nature which surrounds us at every moment.
I was brought up a Catholic and had quotes and extracts from the bible flung at me from every angle. Eckhart explains many of the passages from the Bible with a simplistic and realistic approach that actually make them believable and in a way that has given me some comprehendible insights and an understanding of it for the very first time.
“All life-forms need obstacles and challenges in order to evolve.”―
‘A New Earth’ covers many aspects and varieties of the suffering of not only the individual but also of humanity in general. The chapter on The Pain Body was a real eye-opener for me. Eckhart explains that it actually an entity that is an accumulation of past negative events and future imaginings of what those memories will endure from our different experiences and conditioning.
It seems to start off with 1 simple negative thought and then rehashes the many others locked in our memories and puts us In a position of judgement and superiority in making the other person or thing wrong, giving us total authority to blame and condemn either the person or situation. He also explains that our awareness of the pain body is often seen in someone else first.
When someone we know or love gets mad and goes a bit crazy in a situation that is completely out of character. With this awareness, we can then understand our own relationship with our pain body and gives tools and strategies to become conscious of its arrival and to extinguish it before it snowballs leaving us filled with both confusion and regret.
Any negative emotion that is not fully faced and seen for what it is in the moment it arises does not completely dissolve. It leaves behind a remnant of pain. … This energy field of old but still very-much-alive emotion that lives in almost every human being is the pain-body.
